We are celebrating Easter Sunday at home this year with a service from Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby’s kitchen. Readings will be led by Bishop of Dover, the Rt Rev Rose Hudson-Wilkin, and Caroline Welby. Theodore Levings, a 10-year-old member of All Saints church in Canterbury, will lead prayers.
The Service will start at 9am on Easter Sunday
Intercessions for Easter Day
In response to the words Risen Lord
we stay together: “Fill our hearts with Easter joy”
Living Lord, at the dawn of day the earth was shaken by your life restoring power.
Shake your church today by this seismic news.
Renew the faith of your people who are part of St Bartholomew’s, St James and Shred worshipping communities.
May we tell of your wonders in all that we do and say.
Risen Lord
Fill our hearts with Easter joy
Living Lord your Resurrection startled guards and friends alike
May our nation be awakened this Easter, may this current crisis change hearts hardened by fear and hate. May justice and mercy be shown by our leaders, may your kingdom come.
Risen Lord
Fill our hearts with Easter joy
Living Lord be with our families and friends and all Christian peoples who share in this wonderful day of Resurrection.
In a moment of quiet we bring to mind those known to us – the ones we miss… The ones we’re worried about… Those in hospital… The healers, carers and key workers…
May the presence of Christ bring us close to those who are separated from us, in the knowledge that no distance can part us from God’s love.
Risen Lord
Fill our hearts with Easter joy
Living Lord your mercy endures forever
Strengthen and sustain all whose spirits are weak and all whose lives are gripped by pain or distress…
We pray for all who those in our community who are unwell, remembering especially all affected by the Corona virus as well as other illnesses and chronic health conditions. We lift to you all those struggling with mental health at this time and ask for your healing and peace.
We will give you thanks for your great goodness
Risen Lord
Fill our hearts with Easter joy
Living Lord, confused friends left your empty tomb in both fear and great joy
We hold before you the sadness of loss and the joy of our hope in you
We remember all those who have died recently and those whose anniversary of death falls at this time…
Comfort those who mourn and in the end raise us all to share in your glory
Risen Lord
Fill our hearts with Easter joy
We pray in the name of Christ who conquered death that we might live forever.
Merciful father accept these prayers
For the sake of your Son
Our Saviour Jesus Christ
Amen

He is Risen indeed, Alleluia!
